Gorelick noted that Liotta’s iconic sequence in Goodfellas was filmed in state the day before Hill was arrested.

“Those scenes where he was driving around in a cocaine-laced state, that was filmed in Fort Lee,” he said.

‘’there are many legendary New Jersey actors, but he was one of the greatest and most popular” and “always spoke about his Jersey roots and never strayed far from them.”

He added, “Even a lot of the characters he played had a lot of Jersey in it,” noting Liotta’s portrayal of Frank Sinatra in the 1998 HBO film The Rat Pack.

“You can’t get any more jersey than that,” he said.

The organization’s president, Steven Edwards, said “it was a punch in the gut” when he learned of the actor’s death.

“Ray was too young to lose him like that,” Edwards said. “My heart goes out to his sister Linda, his fiancée Jacy and his beloved daughter Karsen.”
