FIFA fines Nigeria 64 million naira over violent conduct.

FIFA has fined Nigeria 150,000 Swiss Francs for fans’ rowdy behaviour at the end of the second leg of the Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Ghana qualified for the World Cup later this year after the match concluded in a 1-1 tie. In addition to the fine, the Country will play one home game without the presence of spectators.

The fines issued by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee for incidents that occurred during the preliminary tournament for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the first quarter of this year have been published today.

Several member associations have been sanctioned as a result of their fans’ abusive behaviour, in keeping with FIFA’s zero-tolerance stance against discrimination and violence in football.

During the World Cup Qualifiers, nearly 30 countries were punished for various breaches.
