Following the firing of Marco Rose on May 20, BVB moved quickly to fill the vacuum by reassigning Terzic.
After the club parted ways with Lucian Favre in December 2020, the local-born strategist took over on an interim basis, supervising 32 games and won 20, including the 2020/21 DFB Cup final with a 4-1 victory against RB Leipzig.
“By now, most people should understand how significant BVB is in my life,” Terzic remarked. “I would want to express my gratitude to Aki Watzke, Michael Zorc, and Sebastian Kehl for their trust and for entrusting me with such a significant duty. Every day, we will offer everything we have for the team’s and club’s success.”
The deal between the club and the manager runs till 2025.
