BREAKING: FG signs deal with Microsoft to train 5 million Nigerians in digital skills for free

The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech giant, Microsoft to train at least five million Nigerians with digital skills.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Isa Pantami disclosed this on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.


According to Pantami, the deal was reached at the sidelines of the GITEX 2022 in Dubai.

The development is in line with the Ministry’s digital economy plan which aims at driving economic growth in the country.



According to Pantami, Microsoft is also performing its Corporate Social Responsibility through the training of five million Nigerians.


In an earlier announcement, it was stated that the digital skills will be built on three key pillars, which include connectivity, skilling, and digital transformation, and it will last for three years.


The partnership is expected to create over 27,000 new digital jobs in the next three years.


The development comes a few months after the company launched a $200 million African Development Centre located in Lagos. Source
